The Learning Coalition (TLC) differentiates ourselves from other programs in the community as a result of the high-quality, comprehensive programming we provide. The unique needs of each child are addressed using this comprehensive approach and, unlike many early learning programs, services are provided to the child and family.
Our guiding philosophy is that a child’s experiences during the first 2,000 days, from birth to the start of Kindergarten, have a lasting impact on later success in school and life. TLC’s providers supply children with a high-quality environment, caring and supportive emotional climate and educational framework to acquire the knowledge, skills and resiliency needed to thrive in today's complex society.
In order to provide superior services which impact the early education of our children, our comprehensive model addresses the health, nutrition, social-emotional and physical needs of each child. Each of these developmental areas is integrated into the classroom environment throughout the day using a research-based, early learning curriculum.
Additionally, we recognize the value of family involvement in each child’s education, particularly in those critical Pre-Kindergarten years. Consequently, TLC’s teachers and parents take the 2,000 Days Pledge, an educational promise that emphasizes the importance of a shared partnership and approach for putting children on the right path to high school graduation and beyond. This partnership is further strengthened by the parent involvement opportunities and shared decision making model utilized by the program. Parents work with their respective TLC providers’ staff and volunteer leadership to develop and approve programming components, such as planning for the classrooms, field trips, volunteer opportunities and family events. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom, participate in field trips, assist teachers with classroom preparation and review and approve daily lesson plans. Parents quickly become advocates for their child’s education. TLC providers conduct monthly parent meetings while providing numerous training opportunities for parents.
